Are you confused, unhappy, bored or just not feeling it anymore? Wel;l how do you figure out what you really do want? We have 5 Top Tips to get you started!

  1. What assumptions are you making?
  • I’m too old
  • I couldn’t learn a new skill
  • I don’t have enough money
  • My family won’t support me

Well, stop those negative assumptions right now! On the Kuinua Podcast we have interviewed people that thought all the above, and when they stopped thinking this way and just thought about what they are good at, what they enjoy and what makes them happy (also injecting a little bit of selfishness for once) they were able to put together a vision of where they wanted to be. So if a Grannie can create a new career – so can you! You will never know until you try – and that doesn’t mean you have to give up your day job – you can learn alongside an hour a day or half an hour a day. Listen to podcasts, take a free online course, go to a free group meeting, ask a friend or a neighbour to help you in exchange for some cookies…. Use those negotiation skills!

  1. What am I good at?

Make a list, or a vision board, of what you enjoy, what makes you happy and what you would love to learn. Don’t bring in money or time at this point just let yourself be free to draw, pick photos and pictures and dream away!

  1. What is working where I currently am and what is not?

Do you enjoy working for a company? Do the values in your current company align with your own or do you need to seek out somewhere that aligns with you more? If you do, what research do you need to do to find the right workplace or work setting for you? Are you someone who has lots of ideas and wants to try them out as an entrepreneur? You could do  this alongside your current work and test the waters in the market.

  1. Develop a support network

You can’t underestimate the negative drain on your life if you do not have a network like this. You might not even notice some people are draining you. If you sit down and are really honest with yourself, who could you distance yourself from, who would like to get to know more and what gaps do you have that you want to fill in your network? Do you need a mentor or fellow entrepreneurs to bounce ideas off, if you do it’s easy to search them out on Linked In or other sites!

  1. Look at what doesn’t work right now

This is maybe the hardest to look at. Fully assess what is currently leaving you unsatisfied. We have to do this so that whatever is troubling us now doesn’t follow us. For example, if you have an unsupportive network it’s likely you won’t be supported enough to move to your next life stage positively and with success if you are constantly drained. If you have no work ethics, would it serve you to try to build a business? We have to be honest with ourselves about what it takes and what we are prepared to actually do when it comes down to it.

So get out there and start figuring out where you go next!
